Tribute to Gerassimos Miliaressis

With the tribute to the guitarist, composer and music educator Gerassimos Miliaressis (1918-2005), the online magazine TAR launched its category “The History of Guitar in Greece”. He was chosen both for his symbolic significance for the Greek guitar, as the first professional guitar soloist in the country, and because of his recent death, in June 2005. The main source of the texts was the speeches given at the memorial event of 2 December 2005 at the “Philippos Nakas” Conservatory. The tribute also includes a short biographical note, impressions from his students, texts by Miliaressis himself, an interview with Tassos Kolydas, a photo album, a catalogue of works, a discography, written sources and rare audiovisual material.
