Revisiting the Past, Recasting the Present

The international conference “Revisiting the Past, Recasting the Present: The Reception of Greek Antiquity in Music, 19th Century to the Present” took place on 1–3 July 2011 at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation in Athens. It was co-organised by the Study Group for Russian and Eastern European Music of the British Association for Slavonic and East European Studies, the journal Polyphonia and the Hellenic Music Centre. Its subject was the reception of Greek antiquity in music, with an emphasis on Central and Eastern European repertories and on traditions beyond art music. Tassos Kolydas created the conference website and was responsible for the typesetting of the book of abstracts.
