The review concerns the performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s “Nabucco” by the Greek National Opera, on 9 February 2001, conducted by Byron Fidetzis, with Louis Manikas as the King of Babylon. It starts from the genesis of the work and its historical significance, and judges that the performance of the music made up for the gaps in the dramatic plot.
