The lecture presents the origins of the guitarist and composer Dimitri Fampas and his studies up to 1955, and is the first in a series of presentations based on research into his life and work. It follows his path from Milina on Mount Pelion (1921) and his lessons with Nikos Ioannou to his diploma from the National Conservatory (1953). It closes with the role of Andrés Segovia and with the thesis that the history of the modern guitar in Greece begins with the first contact of Greek guitarists with the Spanish School.
Presentation. The lecture was given in January 2000 at the 2nd Winter Guitar Festival in Volos, as the first part of a tribute to Fampas.
